Kororā in Māori means: (noun) little penguin or little blue penguin… Kororā are native and live in Kāpiti Coast, known as the world’s smallest penguin that grow to about 25cm tall and weigh about 1 kg.
Kororā spend a lot of their time feeding at sea but come ashore to rest, nest and moult. Currently minded by Kāpiti Biodiversity Project and classed as at ‘At Risk – Declining’, while they help tell the story of the beautiful coastal lifestyle that Kāpiti provides we can also help tell theirs….

Very excited about the prospect of doing a project in Kāpiti Coast and keen on utilising visual story telling throughout the creative. I came across Kororā, after doing some research about the local area. Currently minded by the Kāpiti Coast Biodiversity Project. What I saw was a unique story that could consciously raise awareness about one of the local native species and give back to the area.
Inspired by the Kororā and their lifestyle habits, I decided to encapsulate our marketing story line into three Pillars: Play, Rest and Connect...
